My state board isn't shown as "active" on the chip strip — does that mean Skora AI can't grade it?
No — active simply marks boards we've already onboarded a school for. Any board's syllabus structure, mark scheme, and question-type conventions are configured during onboarding from your prescribed textbooks and past papers, and there is no per-board fee. Most state boards take a few hours of curriculum mapping to bring online.
The matrix shows "—" for some subject-and-question-type cells. What does that mean?
A dash means we don't grade that combination reliably enough to ship it — for example, Numerical for English, or Diagram-based for Hindi. Rather than silently producing low-quality marks, the pipeline rejects the combination at paper-setup time. If your school routinely uses an unusual combination, raise it during onboarding and we'll assess feasibility.
How well does the OCR cope with regional-language handwriting?
The OCR layer is tuned for the scripts schools in our region actually receive — Devanagari (Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi), Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, and mixed-script papers where students switch between English and a regional language mid-answer. Anything below the per-script confidence threshold is flagged for teacher review rather than scored, and the OCR location is preserved so teachers can click straight to the spot on the scanned sheet.
How does Skora AI handle diagrams and chemistry / physics formulas?
Diagrams are extracted as image regions and graded against the reference figure from the textbook — labels, key components, and structural correctness. Chemistry equations are checked for balance (reactants vs products, atomic counts) rather than literal string match, so a student writing the equation with reactants in a different order still scores. Physics formulas are checked for symbolic and unit equivalence.
Does Skora AI grade university-level papers as well as school exams?
Yes — university semester papers are supported and used by several institutions on the platform. The pipeline doesn't assume school-level vocabulary or marking conventions; the answer-key tagging, choice-rule engine, and strictness levels behave the same way. The main difference is that university papers tend to lean more on Long Answer and Essay, which means proportionally more time spent in teacher review for those longer subjective answers.
